I was watching the X Factor last week and saw some guy called Kalvin McManigle making a fool of himself in national TV; sadly he was not the worst of the night, overall very poor performances, without any voice training were not only passed to the next level, but also were celebrated by the judges and general public.
A lot of untalented people with no voice or presence were in the stage making a fool of themselves and they are going to be again on TV probably for weeks.
So many untrained, poor, insecure contestants invade our homes with only one intention from the creators of the show, to get the revenues from all the Americans that keep voting week after week at a ridiculous cost for people who most of the times don't deserve to be called a Performer. If any of these people would invest in voice lessons they would know better and go to a show with higher quality.
Americans should demand talent, should demand entertaining beyond the sad stories of the contestants. There are soup operas for the ones who want exaggerated tears, a talent show should be all about showcasing talent and that's it. As someone who knows about vocal coaching I would strongly advise you to watch what's in the other channel.

Voice Lessons Tip of the Week
In an ocean of pop music sang with so many styles today, aspiring singers tend to imitate the voices of their idols, distorting the true nature of their voice. When you do that, you are not nurturing your voice. Instead you are sacrificing your performance by refusing to grow in your own direction. Your voice is an instrument and you must use it the way it was meant to be used.
Maestro Luciano Pavarotti once was asked in an interview how he could maintain his powerful voice over a 30 year career. His response was something like this, only in Italian, "I sing like a baby cries for it's bottle." He sang in his most powerful and natural voice. When you hear Pavarotti, you know it is him. He sang in his own voice, never trying to copy someone else's. Take a lesson from Pavarotti and be yourself.
"But what if I don't like my voice?" You say.
I say, any voice can be trained so as to bring out the best sound. Also, consider Bob Dylan. He doesn't have the most beautiful voice, however, you recognize his sound immediately as Bob Dylan. His strength is in the song lyrics and the performance. Uniqueness doesn't come from the quality of the voice, it comes from the delivery.
Copying another artist will not make you stand out and it certainly won't make you better. Being yourself will. Your best voice is your own voice.
